Extended Bio for Michelle Zen
Louisville, KY
About me:
I live in LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. That is not Chicago. I just happen to hold the Miss Chicago HIN title as that is where I happened to win. That is also not California. It's crazy how many people automatically assume that I'm from Los Angeles or Orange County. I lived there this past summer, but I don't claim it as my home. I was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and I still have quite a bit of family there from my mother's side.
I'm a giant nerd. When not working, I prefer to spend my time at home or with friends rather than going out and getting all crazy. I like to cross-stitch.
I got into modelling in 1999 doing local print and commercial jobs. I have since expanded nationally and internationally. The majority of my work has not been in the import industry, but rather it has been in print. I will not use this profile to 'brag' about my modelling accomplishments. I'm not really that kind of a person, and I very seriously doubt you all want to hear it. I'd much rather use this page to allow you to see who I am. Maybe you'll actually like my personality. ;)
As I've stated countless times before, I'm a big nerd. My major in school is Computer Information Systems. I plan on obtaining my Bachelors degree in CIS and using that to pursue a career as an Information Technology Project Manager. I do not plan on modelling for the rest of my life. That would be really silly of me to think I could live off of being cute at the age of 40. I also think it's extremely important for a woman in today's society to be able to support herself financially. Don't get me wrong, I believe that men should be the providers for the family.. but I don't ever want to NEED a man around.
My family is extremely important to me. My parents have always been supportive of me every step of the way, and I realize and appreciate the sacrifices they've made in order to give me the best opportunities in life possible. I have one younger sister, Melanie, and one younger brother, Michael. My father is of German, Cherokee Indian, and Irish descent. His side of the family came over from Liechtenstein, one of the smallest countries in the world, a few generations ago. My mother's heritage is Chinese, Vietnamese, Mongolian, and Russian. She was born in Saigon, Vietnam and left everything she knew to come to the United States during the Vietnam war. She has not gone back to visit since. My unique background has made growing up really interesting. I was raised primarily in Louisville, Kentucky, though we moved around a bit before settling there due to my father's work in the broadcasting industry. Growing up, I tended to relate more to my Caucasian ancestry. Over the past few years, however, I've learned to embrace my Asian heritage just as much. I was raised speaking, reading, and writing both Vietnamese and English, and I actually learned to read and write Vietnamese before English.
Okay.. so I'm tired.. and I don't feel like typing more at this exact moment.. but I will resume this bio at a later time. ;) I love you guys!
Check out me in motion! hahaha....
